The Fry House

November 18,1912, Oliver Fry and his two older sons, Tom and Erwin arrive from Texas. Mr. Fry diligently applied himself and, by January 1913 the Fry homestead, which was a two room structure was ready. These two photos from the mid 60s of the Fry House which was built in 1917 was located where Family Dollar is today on 21 E. Fry Blvd. The house was destroyed in a fire on October 24, 1991. Now...

...the Carmichael House is now Sierra Vista Realty. The Carmichael Store/post office is now Daisey Mae's Steak House. 100 years of growth and development, the old Carmichael House/Store are barely visible on this photo. (We try to achieve the same angle and distance on the "after" picture.) Top photo courtesy Henry Hauser Museum.
